1. Who we are
Bobby Build is a trading name of Bobi Varvaroiu, sole trader, 66 Strathmore Avenue, Luton, LU1 3NZ. Bobi Varvaroiu is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
Contact: contact@bobbybuild.co.uk, 07345 920812.
2. What we collect
Homeowners: name, email, phone, job location and postcode, job details and answers to job questions, budget, photos, messages, and quote requests.
Tradespeople: name, business name, contact details, trades, base postcode, service areas and travel distance, profile and portfolio content, any documents you choose to upload for checks, and credit purchases. We don't store full card details — card payments are handled by Stripe.
Everyone: account login data, technical data (such as IP address, device and browser, and pages visited), notification preferences (including browser push subscriptions if you turn them on), and your cookie choices. When you post a job from an advert link we also record which campaign link brought you to the site.
3. How and why we use it (lawful basis)
- Replying to enquiries and quote requests — steps before a contract / contract.
- Running the marketplace: showing job details (without your contact details) to suitable tradespeople who cover your area, and sharing your contact details only with tradespeople you shortlist — contract / legitimate interests.
- Accounts, the client portal, messages and project milestones — contract.
- Service and security emails and notifications (for example job alerts and account messages) — contract / legitimate interests.
- Preventing fraud and spam and keeping the site secure — legitimate interests.
- Accounting and tax records — legal obligation.
- Advertising measurement and non-essential cookies — consent.
We don't sell personal data and we don't send marketing without your consent.
4. Who we share it with
Tradespeople, as described above. Service providers acting on our behalf:
- Lovable — website hosting, database, sign-in, file and photo storage, and email delivery.
- Stripe — payment processing for tradesperson credit purchases.
- Google Ads — advertising measurement, only with your consent where consent is required (see Cookies below).
- Browser push services (for example Google, Mozilla or Apple) — only if you turn on push notifications on your device.
We may also share data with professional advisers (such as accountants) and with authorities where the law requires it.
5. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries and job posts that don't go ahead: up to 24 months.
- Accounts: while active, then deleted or anonymised within 12 months of closure or 24 months of inactivity.
- Project portal records: 6 years after the project ends (in case of claims).
- Financial and credit records: 6 years (tax law).
- Cookie consent records: 12 months.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to its use (including use based on legitimate interests), to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time.
Contact us to use these rights; we respond within one month. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113) — please contact us first so we can try to help.
8. Cookies and advertising measurement
We use Google Ads (the recipient) to measure which adverts bring visitors to this website and to improve how those adverts perform (measurement and advertising purposes). If you are in the UK or the EEA, these advertising cookies and identifiers — which can include pages you visit on this site and advertising identifiers set by Google — are only used after you accept in our cookie banner. Until you accept, or if you decline, the Google Ads tag is not loaded and no measurement events are sent to Google. If you later withdraw your consent, we stop sending events and remove Google's advertising cookies from this site.
Outside the UK and EEA, the Google Ads tag runs without a consent prompt, and applicable opt-outs are always honoured.
Accepting or declining is equally easy and the site works fully either way. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and a decline persists until you change it. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Essential storage is used for sign-in and to remember your cookie choice.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls so people only see data they're entitled to. No internet transmission is 100% secure.
10. Children
This website is not intended for anyone under 18.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date above. See also our Terms of Use.
